There is nothing like a flat tire to ruin your ride.

Flat tires are a pretty common problem in the bicycle world. The reason is bicycle tires are made from a soft rubber compound and kept light so less effort is required to pedal the bike. This tire construction brings greater enjoyment to riding but allows easier punctures or the air to naturally seep through the wall of the tube and tire. A bike tire will go flat if not inflated regularly.

Let's explore some ways to have less flat tires and their pros & cons and remember that any puncture prevention method requires regular airing up of the tires.

● Tubeless Tire with sealant (Stans, Orange Seal)

-Pro: Self seals punctures

-Pro: Run lower tire pressure for comfort and handling

-Con: More expensive than non-tubeless tires

-Con: Requires regular sealant recharge

-Con: Not available for many bikes

● Heavy Duty Tire (Continental Gatorskin)

- Pro: Good puncture resistance

-Con: Increased weight, Rougher ride

● Thorn-Resistant Tube with Sealant (Flat Attack)
